Good morning. Welcome to Legacy of Freedom. I'm your host, Eric McBride. Glad you joined me today. Hope you have your Bible and your pen, and you're ready to hear what the Holy Spirit would say to you today. Today we're going to be talking about compassion. So grab your cup of coffee, your cup of tea, and let's get ready to listen to what the Holy Spirit would say to us today. Mark chapter six verse thirty four. And Jesus, when he came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things. There's a lot going on in the church world today. More competition than compassion. Compassion literally means to suffer together. You see, God is sympathetic toward the sufferings and the misfortunes of people. So often we don't really resemble the things that Christ resembles in the Word that He exhibits. And in this case, there was a great multitude coming to Jesus. They had need, they had stuff going on, right? And so they're coming to Jesus. They're drawn to Jesus. And listen, there are people that are drawn to you. There are people that are drawn to your family when you carry the Holy Spirit in you. The anointing of God is upon your life. And there are going to be moments when we feel like we're just being worn down by people. And we need to come back to the supply that comes from God. Our strength, our help comes from the Lord. Now, granted, we can't be all things to all people all the time. Jesus, in this passage of Scripture, was telling his disciples they needed to come apart and to rest. And there's always a time to rest and a time to be renewed and restored for ourselves as ministers, as Christians. We need that. But the compassion comes out of spending quality time with Jesus that his heart reflects in our heart. And compassion or the love for people always moved Jesus to lead. How often we can miss the root is what produces the fruit. Compassion, birth ministry. Great leaders like Jesus build a deep love for people that move them to do more than obligation could ever induce. Do you deeply love those you lead? I've had people in my life that God brought into my life and that they were a great treasure, a great blessing, and they helped me in my beginnings in a great way. There were probably times that they missed it because I just simply needed them to suffer with me, to understand what I was going through. That if I was hungry, they were hungry. If I was glad, they were glad. Now, that's what the Apostle Paul commends us to do as his church, to rejoice with those who rejoice, to mourn with those who mourn. And for us to be that type of Christian, that type of follower of Christ, we must spend time with Jesus on a regular basis. Don't miss the opportunity to be compassionate today. Because in doing so, you will reflect the love of Jesus Christ to a world that is hurting and needing his touch. Think about that today as you go through your day. Are you compassionate? Are you caring? And as Christ reflected in your life, pray with me this morning. Father, today I bring myself to you once again, and I recognize God that things can wear me down. Lord, and I can lose the vision of the ministry of Jesus, that He was kind and compassionate, loving and concerned. And today I ask you, help us, Lord, to reflect the heart of Christ in all we do and all we say, that you may be glorified in us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. God bless you.
